Historically, Black people have greatly influenced society through artistic mediums by way of poetry, music, art, theatre, and literature. From 1965-1975 The Black Arts Movement emerged in the wake of The Black Panther Movement as a way to widely express the sociopolitical climate and narrative of being Black in America. Black art is the aesthetic for which illustrates the very essence of Black culture, and the Black experience. There are many great artist in history who have inspired and motivated a new generation of creatives. We have seen the ways in which Black artist have narrated current movements like #BlackLivesMatter through unique avenues. Blavity and My Creative Connection are two online communities that unite Black millennial creatives and showcase artists from across the globe.
