5 Realistic New Years Resolutions

Hello 2016, we see you! The anticipation for the new year is REAL! We’re looking forward and not back. In preparation for the new year, it’s important to set realistic goals to achieve over the next twelve months. If you read Chandria’s article last week, then you know why New Years Resolutions fail. We know how important New Years Resolutions are so we went ahead and pulled together some tips to help you while you create your list, check them out below.

Live a Healthier Lifestyle

Don’t be one of the people who overcrowd the gym because your New Year’s resolution is to lose 20 lbs in 10 days. You already know that’s not going to happen. It’s important to be realistic when setting a fitness goal. Try a holistic approach. Don’t focus on the amount of weight but choose to practice more healthy habits. For example, practicing healthier eating habits, or joining a fun Zumba class with your girls to be more active.

New Year, Newer You

You read that correctly, it doesn’t say “New Year, New Me” because nothing has changed. Be who you are but be an upgraded version. 2015 had it’s ups and downs, certainly, you learned a lot from your shortcomings. Leave the negative baggage in 2015, but be realistic about your changes.

Save Money

Financial goals are a must every year, find ways to save more than you did last year. Again, keep this number realistic, one way to begin is by setting a realistic amount you put away from each pay check. For example, plan to save 8 % of each pay check.

Get a Side Hustle

Don’t sleep on a hidden talent that could potentially make you money. It’s important to always have multiple streams of income. This is especially helpful for meeting your savings goal for the new year. Don’t let the sew-in queens of your campus be the only one’s making extra money. Monetize your hobby in 2016.

Challenge Yourself

In every facet of your life, challenge yourself. Like Dj Khaled says, “They don’t want us to be successful. Stay focused.” Successful people are continuously growing, and challenging yourself results in personal and professional growth. Have a mind frame to challenge yourself in your relationships, at your career, as well as self-growth. Don’t be afraid to take on new adventures and climb to higher heights.
